Instigate: The 2018 Art Education Graduate Student Symposium



Friday March 16th, 2018

“Instigate” is a symposium that will be held on March 15th and 16th, 2018. It will present research that explores Art Education as a means of initiating Social Change, particularly where encounters of everyday life become a starting point for reflection on ideological beliefs.

Keynote by Natasha Reid, Executive Director of the Visual Arts Centre, Film screenings by students and alumni, and a special Art Education edition of ArtUp! by Studio Béluga March 16, 6-11 PM at Theatre Sainte-Catherine, 264 Ste-Catherine St E.

In this keynote address, Natasha S. Reid, the Executive Director of the Visual Arts Centre in Montreal, will explore links between socially engaged art practices and community-based art education. In their efforts to establish deep social connections and, often, initiate social change, a large number of artists are reaching out to and working with various communities through socially engaged artistic practices.
