TV Writing with Kate Hammer

Kate has spent the last five years completing a Masters in TV Writing, working in television development with several companies, and most recently writing in the Story Department for EastEnders and River City – two UK continuing dramas. Simultaneously, she has been selected for the Amazon-led Jed Mercurio Mentorship, Short Circuit’s Convergence, and Torino Film Lab’s Comedy Lab, among others. Kate has also made several funded shorts, sketches, and has multiple projects in development.

This workshop will cover everything that it takes to write a successful and engaging episode of television in your own, unique voice. This includes:

-Originating ideas for comedy and drama

-Developing memorable characters

-Loglines and summaries

-Treatments vs pitch decks

-Types of structure to use

-Breaking it down and testing it scene by scene

-How to share your pilot to get noticed

This in person event will be held at the Théâtre Sainte-Catherine, an accessible space.
